The Oxford Companion to Australian Politics
First Edition
Edited by Brian Galligan and Winsome Roberts
Over 400 entries

The Oxford Companion to Australian Politics is the first scholarly and comprehensive account of Australian political life and thought that gives attention to all aspects of national politics and to Australian politics in regional, international and global contexts. It also takes full account of the colonial origins of Australian politics and includes entries on indigenous politics, frontier politics and settler societies.

Over 400 specially commissioned entries cover such topics as biographies, key events, policy issues, colonial origins, indigenous politics, organisations and institutions, settler societies and frontier politics. A Dictionary of Contemporary World History
From 1900 to the Present
Third edition

Jan Palmowski
Over 2600 entries

"Concise, current information ... highly recommended"Choice, the magazine of the American Library Association

This authoritative dictionary distinguishes itself by providing informative and analytical entries on the most important people, organizations and events that have shaped our history from 1900 to the present day. Fully updated and revised, and with over 2,600 entries, this volume gives excellent 'global' coverage and – while also providing an enhanced coverage of the European Union – avoids presenting an exclusively 'Euro-centric' perspective of World History. The new edition boasts a wealth of new material including entry-level web links, extended coverage of historical context in the country entries, new and expanded biographical entries on figures such as Angela Merkel and President 'Lula' of Brazil, and useful tables including lists of office-holders for countries and organizations and winners of the Nobel Peace Prize.

Written by an authority in the field, this is a comprehensive reference work that will prove invaluable to a range of readers from students of history, politics, and international relations to people involved in politics, social studies and related disciplines, as well as the general reader interested in the modern world.

Jan Palmowski is Senior Lecturer in European Studies (German Politics and European Institutions) King's College, University of London.
